Our three age groups are named after Australian birds to acknowledge part of our land and culture

Our Centre is licensed for 29 children a day and we provide care for the following age groups:

~ Owlets/ Nursery (6 weeks to 2 years)
Ratio- 1 educator to 4 children

~ Galahs (2 to 3 years)
Ratio- 1 educator to 5 children

~ Pelicans (3 to 4 years)
Ratio- 1 educator to 10 children

~ Pelicans (4 to 5 years)
Ratio- 1 educator to 10 children

Each group has a personalised routine and program which focuses on the children's strengths and evolves on a daily basis. Our educators plan for both individual children and groups based on the age, stage of development and interests of the children.

Our weekly newsletter highlights each groups interests, personalized program tailored to individual children's interests and group projects, experiences, goals and achievements. Educators are guided by the National Regulations, local council requirements (when looking at future planning within the centre), the National Quality Standards which brings together the 7 key quality areas that are important outcomes for children and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). All of our future plans and quality improvements are documented in our Quality Improvement Plan which is available for families to view the journey of our identified strengths, goals and outcomes.

Excursions, incursions and events are planned and are seen as valuable learning tools. These experiences are stepping stones towards forming strong community links.

Hilltop Kids philosophy is to challenge and extend on the whole child. Our learning spaces:
  • adopt holistic approaches
  • are responsive to children
  • plan and implement learning through play
  • foster intentional teaching
  • create physical and social learning environments that have a positive impact on children’s learning
  • value the cultural and social contexts of children and their families
  • provide for continuity in experiences and enable children to have successful transitions
  • assess and monitor children’s learning to inform provisions and support children in achieving learning outcomes.

Our natural environment creates the perfect home like setting for all children in our care.

Educators meet and exceed ratios by always having four to five working directly with the children and on the premises to assist the three age groups throughout the day.
